The Last of the Lightning Bugs, 2026, Acrylic on Canvas, 14x18 inches | $400

$400.00

This painting was created while listening to Noah Kahan’s recent album The Great Divide, and in particular the song We Go Way Back. I was brought back to evenings as a child, chasing lightning bugs around fields on the farm where I grew up, catching them in jars. This painting is of that farm, in the evening, from a visit a few years ago. The location is behind our barn, the spot where my husband and I got married 9 years ago. These words feel like a love song to both nostalgia and a partner who understands you for who you are, asking nothing more.

Tell me I don't need options, that I have substance, that I'm important
If it's only for letting dogs out, sweeping porches, well, make me nothing
Take me way back
We go way back
