Athenaeum Under Construction I, 2026, Acrylic on Canvas 12x12 inches

$400.00

Original painting of the Athenaeum of Saxonville, captured mid-construction. As an artist, I was struck by the interplay of bold light, the neon temporary insulation covering the windows, and the peeling paint.

The Athenaeum in Framingham, Massachusetts, has stood beside the Saxonville Mills buildings since the 1840s, serving over the years as a jail, a school, a hospital, and a venue for dances, wedding receptions, and community gatherings. Framingham closed the building in 1995 citing the need for repairs, and it has sat empty ever since. Now the Friends of Saxonville are working to restore the exterior and bring this long-debated landmark back to life.
