Original painting inspired by the magic of light in an alleyway on a car repair shop in Wellesley.
I fell in love with the way the light hit the side of this building, painting it several times over. Urban landscapes were my first love, and this painting was a return to a space that felt cozy and familiar.
When I returned later to take more source photos of this building, a teenager approached me and asked what I was doing. “Oh, I’m an artist, and I’m painting it”, I replied. He looked at the peeling paint, somewhat surprised, and then politely assured me, “it looks great!” To this day, I chuckle when I look at this series of paintings, imagining the kid thinking that I am an industrial or mural painter, and that this was my finest work.
